News from LA …

Hey everyone.

So that’s it, i moved.. it took me a long time to sort out my visa and … my life…! but i’m finally enjoying LA sun everyday .
Being a vegan in LA is like being in heaven … i’m now fatening myself with vegan fake “chicken” wings, as if i needed that ! and a lot of vegan chocolate peanut butter donuts, yummy!

My record is taking ages to finish .. coz i have no more money ..
so i can’t update new songs coz they’re not finished recording yet ..
i thought i’d update a lot a video with new songs instead… so you can still hear what it sound like with my band too !

Sometimes music drives me crazy… it’s so hard .. people are so much just about money and career, which is the opposite of what i aim for.. why should art be an industry ..? i’m missing acting a lot .. it’s way more easy ( though even more of an industry, which i blame too ).. but serving a project and helping people is way more what i’m about, having a solo project is the hardest thing ever…
i think after this record, i might just want to play in bands.. at least i won’t be so lonely facing adversity..

I can’t wait for my Australian tour .. i’m planning on staying there 2 extra weeks after the tour to enjoy the sun and the kangarous and try to learn how to surf !

Christmas in the US is so different than in Europe, everything is decorated , illuminated and incredibly pretty … and you can really feel the taste of christmas, it almost make me like christmas !

Also, thanks again for your support and nice emails,  it’s very precious.

Well,
I send you my best Christmas wishes ,
i hope it will be filled up with love and nice vegan treats !

Bisous

Santa & Grandma

I remember my first Christmas adventure with Grandma. I was just a kid.  I remember tearing across town on my bike to visit her on the day my big sister dropped the bomb: “There is no Santa Claus,” she jeered. “Even dummies know that!”

My Grandma was not the gushy kind, never had been. I fled to her that day because I knew she would be straight with me. I knew Grandma always told the truth, and I knew that the truth always went down a whole lot easier when swallowed with one of her “world-famous” cinnamon buns. I knew they were world-famous, because Grandma said so. It had to be true.

Grandma was home, and the buns were still warm. Between bites, I told her everything. She was ready for me. “No Santa Claus?” she snorted. “Ridiculous! Don’t believe it. That rumor has been going around for years, and it makes me mad, plain mad. Now, put on your coat, and let’s go.”

“Go? Go where, Grandma?” I asked. I hadn’t even finished my second world-famous cinnamon bun.

“Where” turned out to be Kerby’s General Store, the one store in town that had a little bit of just about everything. As we walked through it’s doors, Grandma handed me ten dollars.

That was a bundle in those days.

“Take this money,” she said, “and buy something for someone who needs it. I’ll wait for you in the car.” Then she turned and walked out of Kerby’s.

I was only eight years old. I’d often gone shopping with my mother, but never had I shopped for anything all by myself. The store seemed big and crowded, full of people scrambling to finish their Christmas shopping. For a few moments I just stood there, confused, clutching that ten-dollar bill, wondering what to buy, and who on earth to buy it for.

I thought of everybody I knew: my family, my friends, my neighbors, the kids at school, and the people who went to my church. I was just about thought out, when I suddenly thought of Bobby Decker. He was a kid with bad breath and messy hair, and he sat right behind me in Mrs. Pollock’s grade-two class.

Bobby Decker didn’t have a coat. I knew that because he never went out to recess during the winter. His mother always wrote a note, telling the teacher that he had a cough, but all we kids knew that Bobby Decker didn’t have a cough; he had no coat.

I fingered the ten-dollar bill with growing excitement. I would buy Bobby Decker a coat!

I settled on a red corduroy one that had a hood to it. It looked real warm, and he would like that. “Is this a Christmas present for someone?” the lady behind the counter asked kindly, as I laid my ten dollars down.

“Yes, ma’am,” I replied shyly. “It’s for Bobby.” The nice lady smiled at me.  I didn’t get any change, but she put the coat in a bag and wished me a Merry Christmas.

That evening, Grandma helped me wrap the coat in Christmas paper and ribbons (a little tag fell out of the coat, and Grandma tucked it in one of her books) and write, “To Bobby, From Santa Claus” on it.

Grandma said that Santa always insisted on secrecy. Then she drove me over to Bobby Decker’s house, explaining as we went that I was now and forever officially one of Santa’s helpers. Grandma parked down the street from Bobby’s house, and she and I crept noiselessly and hid in the bushes by his front walk.

Then Grandma gave me a nudge. “All right, Santa Claus,” she whispered, “get going.” I took a deep breath, dashed for his front door, threw the present down on his step, pounded his doorbell and flew back to the safety of the bushes and Grandma. Together we waited breathlessly in the darkness for the front door to open.

Finally it did, and there stood Bobby. Fifty years haven’t dimmed the thrill of those moments spent shivering, beside my Grandma, in Bobby Decker’s bushes. That night, I realized that those awful rumors about Santa Claus were just what Grandma said they were: ridiculous. Santa was alive and well, and we were on his team.

I still have grandma’s book, with the tag tucked inside: $19.95

Psssttt… did I mention just how awesome Grandma was?

We is sooo spoiled!

Since it snowed here – the birds have had to find things to eat, other than our worms (which are under the snow). Well- one day they discovered our crab apple tree. Many of the apples never fell – and the birds were thrilled to eat them now!

Law & Order, Pomegranates, and the Queen

Geez! I feel like I haven’t been on Myspace in decades! Between recording, traveling to play shows, and eating pomegranates (a very time consuming activity), I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve just written in to say ‘hi.’ Sorry about that! I miss you all and I appreciate that the messages have kept coming even through my minor absence on here. : ) How are you all feeling about the election results? I was in the air on my way to Wyoming when the result were released. I was so surprised that they announced the new President Elect so soon! I voted right before I left on the 4th. I really felt so lucky, thinking about all the countries where citizens don’t get to vote. Maybe that sounds sappy and super patriotic, but I’ll risk it. I really just appreciate having even a little bit of a say in what’s going to happen for us.

OMG OMG OMG! Wait until you hear my new single, “Studio Apartment!” I want to jump up and down every time I even think about it. It’s so different from ANYTHING you’ve heard from me, but at the same time, it’s the most “ME” I’ve ever been in my music. I also feel like it’s important that I tell you that I bought a new dress this weekend. It’s a Free People, which is my 1 favorite brand. The stuff’s so cool because it almost looks like it’s one-of-a-kind. While waiting in line at the mall to pay, a woman came up to me and said “Wait here.” At first I thought, “Wow. This woman has guts. What’s her deal?” Then, a few seconds later, she came back and motioned for me to come over. She had found another cashier to ring us up because the one we re in line for was taking FOR-FREAKING-EVER! Then, to top it all off, she handed me a coupon that saved me a bundle! “Saved me a bundle?” I sound like I’m on a carpet installation commercial or something. : P Anyway, this woman is now my best friend, though I don’t know her name and will probably never see her again. Lady - if you’re reading this, THANKS! KARMA POINTS FOR YOU!

Alright. Well, my AOL Desktop icon is bouncing up and down telling me that I have a super urgent message. Probably from the FBI or the Queen or something. I’ll tell ya. That Queen got my e-mail address and now she just won’t leave me alone! Something about dinner at Buckingham Palace or whatever…I don’t have time for pointless gatherings like that! I have pomegranates to eat and dresses to buy! HONESTLY!

I’m gonna run…not literally though, because it’s dark and cold out, and on Law and Order when someone goes running in the dark, they either go missing, or they find a dead body that turns out to be the ex-wife of their music teacher’s uncle’s therapist’s inmate’s lawyer. Got it? Don’t got running in the dark. It’s trouble! Sweet dreams!

P.S. Write to me sometime! I PROMISE to get on here much more often now that the year’s winding down.
