i'm that type of girl
was going to post this yesterday but my borrowed internet connection isn’t always reliable.
i am addicted to nadia oh. i’ve probably listened to her album 10 times in the past 24 hours. the best album i’ve heard in a long time and completely inspiring in the strangest way for what it is. totally fresh for being completely unoriginal.
i have a couple of weeks before i go back into the studio. i wanted to make sure i had a lot of time to add the finishing touches of what can be done at home (ie. all of the synth and guitar parts, some drum programming) before going in to re-amp and then record the final vocal takes … so that’s basically what i’ve been doing, spending time with my nord lead 2. i still ♥ that thing, it’s probably the only synth i like post-1986. it’s weird, referring to even the recent decades of the 1900’s is starting to feel like making a historical reference. i often wonder what the present decade will be known for when we look back on it… i personally don’t have very much positive to say, although there was much to like in fashion there were no predominant original trends in music. i feel like nobody gave a shit about this decade because it didn’t have a catchy name like the 80’s or the 90’s. i heard something about the “naughties”?? but that didn’t catch on. i’m moreso looking forward to claiming the next decade, which i have high hopes for. i’ve decided we are referring to it as the teens. now that it has a catchy nickname, it stands a chance.
pro tools 8 has pretty much made my life, it’s definitely moving along the recording process nicely. as i said, i’ve been recording synth parts … in the past 24 hours i’ve done the synth bass parts for the first 3 songs on the LP and they are sounding quite acid-influenced as i had previously envisioned. i’ve decided to completely makeover a song from late 2006, perhaps my most ubiquitous thus far, and give it this acid house vibe… it’s one of the songs still in the player. will probably be the first track on the album. i’ve spent a lot of effort steering the project away from electronics so it’s nice to have it finally come full circle. the sound of it all will just be crazy. each track has its unique vibe but the album tells a story as a cohesive whole… at this point i’m just ready to share it. the live act will be my first chance to do that, and it should be happening sooner rather than later. going over to jenna’s tomorrow to continue working on that. we have a tentative setlist and are quite eager to make the show the best it could ever be. can’t wait to see u out! ♥
